Business Networking Groups

The Power of Networking for Small Businesses
Networking Business Groups Help Start-Ups Find Customers

With the proliferation of new businesses in Southern California, business owners and professionals are turning to networking groups to market themselves and drum up new business.  Networking groups are springing up almost as fast as the new businesses. The networking groups are especially important to young businesses without a lot of cash. Some networking groups are social, but the reality of is that new businesses want more business, and they want to build a name and a reputation.

Business owners who market their services to other business people, can quickly reach a whole list of new clients. Networking is invaluable. People do business with people they know. Networking is an business opportunity for professionals to give business and get business in return.

LABC only has "non-competes networking groups" which means there is only one person per profession in each group.  The group meets twice monthly at the convenience of the group members. LABC networking groups are both referral and leads groups. Referrals are suggestion to other group members -- it is basically a cold call. On the other hand, when a group member gives a lead, the potential client is aware and already interested in their services.

Guidelines of Membership

Networking requires commitment. The most successful groups are comprised of participants who are sincerely committed to helping one another through networking. They are a team. As a participant, you are responsible for complying with the policies and guidelines of the organization. A partial list of the policies are listed below:

  • Only one person from each professional classification is permitted to join a group
  • All participants should represent their primary occupation product, service or function.
  • Attendance is critical. If you cannot attend a meeting, you may send a substitute or visitor. This will not count as an absence.
  • Participants are required to bring bona-fide referrals and/or visitors to their group
